FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Does Microsoft Business Central fit a 30-person SMB?
Yes, and it is an excellent starting size. Business Central was designed for the SMB (it is the successor to Dynamics NAV / Navision). It covers purchasing, sales, stock, finance and light CRM, and extends via hundreds of sector-specific extensions. At 30 employees with a standard scope, the investment amortises over 5 to 7 years — typical lifetime of a well-installed ERP. We scope precisely after a 2-3-week business framing.
What is K3 Pebblestone and why is it essential for fashion?
K3 Pebblestone (and its K3 Fashion variant) is a Business Central vertical extension designed for fashion, footwear and accessory brands. It natively adds: size/colour matrix (one reference declined across 7 sizes × 5 colours), pre-pack (sized bundles shipped to stores), season management (SS/FW), digital lookbooks, native integration with wholesale EDI processes. It is the European reference solution for fashion brands B2C and B2B.
How long does a Business Central deployment take?
For a 30-60 employee SMB with a standard scope: 4 to 9 months. Framing phase (4-6 weeks), build phase with configuration and development (10-16 weeks), user acceptance (4-8 weeks), data migration and go-live (2-4 weeks), post-deployment hypercare (4-8 weeks). A fashion brand with K3 Fashion and wholesale integrations typically needs 7-9 months.
Can we migrate from Sage, SAP B1 or a home-grown ERP?
Yes, it is one of our most frequent deployment cases. We first analyse data quality (customers, items, suppliers, chart of accounts, open transactions) — migration is also a cleanup opportunity. We then build a migration scheme via Azure Data Factory or dedicated scripts, with several cutover simulations before the real go-live. The double-run period is generally reduced to a few days thanks to preparation.
Is Business Central in the cloud, and is data in Europe?
Yes. Business Central SaaS is hosted on Azure with location options (France, EU, larger). For European clients, EU hosting is the default configuration. On-premise mode stays available for rare cases where full sovereignty is business-required, but 95 % of our deployments are cloud to benefit from continuous updates and high availability.
How does EDI integration work with Business Central?
Business Central integrates with EDI standards via dedicated connectors (EDICOM, Comarch, Viadeo, GEDYS, or custom solutions). Typical flows covered: ORDERS (received customer orders), ORDRSP (acknowledgements), DESADV (ASN, shipping notice), INVOIC (invoices). We configure mapping between the partner EDI format and Business Central tables, then automate end-to-end. Typically 3-6 weeks per new EDI partner.
What about Dynamics NAV / Navision if we still use it?
Dynamics NAV is the ancestor of Business Central: same technical heritage, same user ergonomics but modernised architecture. Microsoft has ended general support for NAV: staying on it means accumulating debt, missing new features, and eventually risking compliance issues. Migrating to Business Central is today the natural trajectory, with reprise tools that make the exercise relatively comfortable.
Who trains users on Business Central?
We train key users (team leads in each department) during the acceptance phase, then produce tailored documentation (short videos, operating sheets) for end users. Key users relay training internally, which is far more effective than mass external training. After go-live, we provide weekly office hours for 2-3 months to support ramp-up and adjust friction points.
